1993: Wilder's time as Governor
In 1993, Governor L. Douglas Wilder responded swiftly to the Petersburg Tornado disaster, speaking to the media about emergency efforts and personally meeting with residents. His global leadership included strengthening Virginia’s trade relations, as seen in his meetings with the African Diplomatic Corps and a trip to Honduras.
