Bicycling is almost, if not more, dangerous than motorcycling because of helmets.
Most people who ride motorcycles wear helmets, while most people on bicycles do not.
Nowadays more people on bicycles are wearing helmets. Two or three years ago a kid would
have probably said that only professional cyclers wear helmets.
The only way we are going to get kids to wear helmets is to make them want to wear
helmets. If you make a law that you have to wear a helmet, that's just going to make people less
interested in biking.
Manufacturers need to make helmets less awkward and more stylish to get kid's
attention. If the manufacturer makes helmets with better designs and style, it will make more
kids buy them. If manufacturers make helmets less awkward and lighter, it would not detract
as much from their bicycling. If the helmets could be made less expensive, parents would be
more likely to buy them. Perhaps the bike manufacturers could include the price of a helmet
with the bike so that bike helmets would be in the hands of more people.
Sponsors, like Dupont, a company that is involved in cycling and is safety conscious,
